Michigan Human Resources Development, Inc. (M-HRDI) is a private non-profit, employment and training agency. M-HRDI operates all the adult employment and training programs (Workforce Investment Act, Work First and Welfare-to-Work) in Osceola, Lake, and Mason counties for Michigan Works! West Central. M-HRDI, through a direct grant from the Michigan Department of Career Development also operates a statewide Dislocated Worker Program and has numerous sub-contracts with Michigan Works! Agencies around the state. Currently there are over 50 staff in 18 M-HRDI offices throughout Michigan.







Eagle Village is dedicated to helping youth from the age of 14 to 21 to obtain employment either in the private or public sector. We assist them with career exploration, educational assessment, and job placement. These services are provided in Lake, Mason, Mecosta, Newaygo and Osceola counties.

Newaygo County ISD Employment Services is an Internet based statewide system designed to link Employers and Job Seekers easily and free of charge. The "Michigan Job Bank" website is the largest job bank in the country. The Michigan Works! Employment Services (ES) Specialist will also assist and guide clients to create or perfect a "traditional" resume, cover letters, and instruct with job interview tips and preparation. The ES Specialist will also key in on "special" assistance that any agency (Veteran's Representative, Migrant Seasonal Outreach Worker, Eagle Village Youth Services, Community Mental Health, etc.) may be able to lend the job seeker to enhance their ability to compete in the job market. These referrals are key in attracting new clients to obtain assistance and to allow a full range of networking opportunities between agencies.

Community Mental Health Community Employment Services is a program serving Lake, Mason and Oceana counties. The program provides job development, placement; training and work related supports for persons with developmental disabilities and mental illness. The aim is to be a source of good employees serving the needs of local employers; "For Employees You Can Count On." The Michigan Department of Community Health and the Michigan Department of Career Development fund most services. In addition, Community Employment Services is a provider of school-to-work transition services for the Mason-Lake Intermediate School District, Ludington Area, Mason County Central, Mason County Eastern, Free Soil and Pentwater School Districts.







Children's Resource Network is a nonprofit agency which offers:
  • Free referrals for families needing child care
  • Assistance in becoming a licensed child care provider
  • Conferences for parents and early childhood professionals
  • Classes for child care providers working in homes and centers
  • Phone consultation for parents and child care providers
  • Resource library (books, videos, etc.) for parents and child care providers
  • Information on child care assistance payments through the Family Independence Agency

Goodwill Industries of West Michigan Inc. is a leading area provider of employment and training services including career planning, skills training, and job development/placement.

Goodwill serves people who experience barriers to employment including lack of education, welfare dependency, disability, criminal record, and advanced age.

Goodwill maintains partner relations with Michigan Works!, Michigan Rehabilitation Services, Community Mental Health, area schools, and other West Michigan helping organizations. Goodwill now offers a Retail and Customer Service Training Program in collaboration with Michigan Rehabilitative Services and area retailers through the West Central Workforce Service Center in Ludington.

Michigan Rehabilitation Services work in partnership with persons with disabilities to prepare for employment., To be eligible for services the person must have a disability that causes a barrier to employment. A disability may be physical, emotional, learning or substance abuse. Participants and counselors work together to explore career options and then develop a plan to reach the career goal. The plan may include further training; strategies to improvejob seeking and job interview skills; address the need for accommodations on the job; and placement services. Program orientations are held at the Ludington Workforce Service Center. Call ahead to make an appointment.

Michigan Veterans Representative - "Your Best Bet, Hire a Vet." The Veterans Employment helps with job referral and placement; assists in resume writing and career planning. The Veterans Representative also helps with interview skills and offers Labor market Information as well as information on veterans benefits.
