Our Workforce Service Center in Fremont will help you find work in any County within the State of Michigan in which you would like to work. All of our services are free. We have experienced, helpful staff here in our office and computers you can use for job-finding on the internet. If you're not sure how to use the internet for job-finding, don't worry: it's easy and we'll help you do it.

The Workforce Service Center is where everything is in one place: job seekers come here to find work, employers come here to find workers, and service agencies are here to help. These are the partner agencies that offer their services through the Newaygo County Workforce Service Center:

Baker College is a nonprofit, co-educational four-year degree granting institution of higher education. Baker College is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and is also accredited to offer MBA graduate degrees. The mission of Baker College is to provide quality higher education which enables graduates to be successful throughout challenging and rewarding careers. The Foundation for Behavioral Resources operates all the adult employment and training programs (Workforce Investment Act, Work First, Welfare to Work) in Newaygo county for Michigan Works! West Central.

Services to job seekers include:

- Match you with employers
- Test for job compatibility
- Pay a portion of starting salary
- Offer classroom training
- Assist with supportive services
- There is no charge to job seekers for any service.

Services to employers include:

- Advertise job openings
- Take applications and pre-screen applicants
- Basic skills testing for applicants, if position requires
- Help defray the cost of training new unskilled employees
- There is no charge to employers for any service

Newaygo County Regional Educational Service Agency administers an Internet based statewide system designed to link Employers and Job Seekers easily and free of charge in the West Central region. The "Michigan Job Bank" website is the largest job bank in the country. The Michigan Works! Employment Services (ES) Specialist will also assist and guide clients to create or perfect a "traditional" resume, cover letters, and instruct with job interview tips and preparation. The ES Specialist will also key in on "special" assistance that any agency (Veteran's Representative, Rehabilitation Services, Eagle Village Youth Services, etc.) may be able to lend the job seeker to enhance their ability to compete in the job market. These referrals are key in attracting new clients to obtain assistance and to allow a full range of networking opportunities between agencies.

Eagle Village is dedicated to helping youth from the age of 14 to 21 to obtain employment either in the private or public sector. We assist them with career exploration, educational assessment, and job placement. These services are provided in Lake, Mason, Mecosta, Newaygo and Osceola counties.

Michigan Rehabilitation Services work in partnership with persons with disabilities to prepare for employment., To be eligible for services the person must have a disability that causes a barrier to employment. A disability may be physical, emotional, learning or substance abuse. Participants and counselors work together to explore career options and then develop a plan to reach the career goal. The plan may include further training; strategies to improve job seeking and job interview skills; address the need for accommodations on the job; and placement services. Program orientations are held at the Fremont Workforce Service Center. Call ahead to make an appointment.

Michigan Veterans Representative
"Your Best Bet, Hire a Vet." The Veterans Employment helps with job referral and placement; assists in resume writing and career planning. The Veterans Representative also helps with interview skills and offers Labor market Information as well as information on veterans benefits.

The goal of the Migrant Services is to meet the employment service needs of the agricultural industry in Lake, Mecosta, Newaygo, and Osceola counties. Working with agricultural employers, migrant seasonal farm workers and/or seasonal farm workers. This office works with migrant and/or seasonal farm workers that want to settle out into full-time employment. We also provide supportive services.

Muskegon Community College is your public community college serving Muskegon, Newaygo, Oceana, and Ottawa counties. MCC offers eighty degrees and certificate programs in the Liberal Arts and Sciences, Allied Health (Nursing, Respiratory Therapy), Business and Technology. MCC programs lead to employment in a wide variety of fields and can provide a path to transfer for those seeking a bachelor's degree.

MCC is now offering through its Newaygo County extension site located at NCRESA in Fremont, course work leading to the Associates degree. Conveniently located with high quality education opportunities and affordable tuition, the college is expanding its course selection to serve the needs of Western Michigan residents. NCEDO is a private, non-profit corporation establsihed to provide economic development services to newaygo County. The Corporation is a culmination of cooperative efforrts between the cities of Fremont, Grant, Newaygo, and White Cloud, the County of Newaygo, the Fremont Area Foundation, the Newaygo County Intermediate School District, and private sector organizations. Its mission is to create a dynamic environment of economic opportunities for the Newaygo County community.

NCEDO, Inc. works to retain existing jobs in the County by meeting with businesses on a regular basis to ensure that problems are resolved in a timely manner and to provide assistance on upcoming projects. NCEDO, Inc. also works to attract new employment opportunities to the County. Examples of assistance available include preparing tax abatement applications, coordinating infrastructure for new projects, locating land for industrial and commercial clients, and assisting with the recruitment of specialized workers. NCEDO, Inc. also operates a Small Business Development Center to provide couonseling and assistance to residents interested in starting a small business.

Newaygo County Career-Tech Center
The purpose of the Center is to provide ready access to high quality career and technical education for all students that is consistent with their needs, interests, and abilities. Our goal is to give studentsjob-entry level skills enabling them to find gainful employment or to continue their education in an articulated post-secondary experience.

We offer an array of services to help students achieve the goals they have set for themselves to achieve their success directly proportional to their efforts. We encourage all interested students to take full advantage of all the many opportunities and services available at the Career-Tech Center.
