Career Exploration in Newaygo County
With updated resumes in hand, wave after wave of Newaygo County high school students came to the Dogwood Center for Performing Arts in Fremont on March 22, eager to talk about the skills they’ve learned at the Newaygo County Career-Tech Center.
About 800 students proudly walked from table to table, to speak with potential employers during Newaygo County Career-Tech Center’s 2018 Job Fair.
More than 30 local and regional employers setup tables at the event, including those from local manufacturers, assisted-living facilities, hair salons, staffing agencies, regional unions and more.
Two sessions were held during the school day for morning and afternoon Career-Tech Center (CTC) students. Students in the different programs rotated in throughout the day.
After the CTC let out for the day, the career fair was opened up to the general public. More than 50 job-seekers attended the evening session to do some career exploration.
The event was organized by the Newaygo County Career-Tech Center, Michigan Works! West Central, the Fremont Area Chamber of Commerce, River Country Chamber of Commerce and the Newaygo County Economic Development Office.
