Helping Future HR Professionals
A group of human resource students at Ferris State University recently visited Michigan Works! West Central in Big Rapids to see how they could apply the skills they are learning in the classroom after graduation.
The students were part of the University's Collegiate Chapter, of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Students were able to take a tour of the service center, which was led by Michigan Works! West Central Career Navigator Cassie Smith. They were able to learn about the services and programs offered by Michigan Works and were also able to meet some of the 14 different partnering agencies housed in the center.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity for the SHRM students to come here to learn about Michigan Works! West Central,” said Carol Rewers, SHRM faculty advisor and professor at Ferris’ College of Business. “We appreciate the Michigan Works! staff taking the time to share information about the services and programs available at Michigan Works agencies throughout Michigan that may benefit our students as future HR professionals in the workforce.”
