Mecosta-Osceola Career Center Career Expo

More than 530 students spoke with local and regional employers on February 20th in Big Rapids as part of the Mecosta-Osceola Career Center’s annual Career Expo.

Gov. Rick Snyder recently declared February as Career and Technical Education Month in Michigan to encourage students and adults to be ambassadors for career-tech classes and celebrate the programs’ role in preparing students for 21st Century high-demand, high-skill and high-wage careers. Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month is a public awareness campaign that takes place each February to celebrate the value of CTE and the achievements and accomplishments of CTE programs across the country.

Representatives from nearly 50 employers were in attendance to tell students all about their industry and to evaluate if they are a good fit for their company. The annual event also served as an opportunity for all MOCC students to demonstrate their career-readiness skills, as well as learn what their next steps should be to obtain employment within their chosen field.
