New Executive Director Announced
(Big Rapids, MI) The Workforce Development Board (WDB) and Local Elected Officials (LEO) of Michigan Works! West Central are pleased to announce the appointment of Shelly Keene as the agency's new Executive Director. Keene's appointment was made after a State-wide search that consisted of a series of interviews that included members of the WDB, LEO and West Central staff. Paul Griffith, who served in the role for 44 years retired March 29th.
"Shelly comes to this position with over ten years of experience in the Michigan Works! system," said Debbie Smith-Olson, Chair of the WDB. "including having been with West Central for almost three years, most recently serving as the Deputy Director. "
Prior to joining West Central, Shelly worked for EightCAP and at West Michigan! Works. "I am ready to take on the challenge, welcoming new opportunites to enhance the programs we offer." Keene said. "In the past three years, I have had opportunity to become familiar with the six county area we serve and look forward to working with local partners to best meet the local workforce needs."
